Election Commission of India Will Announce the Schedule of Bypolls at ‘Appropriate Time’

On Friday, The Election Commission Stated that they will announce the schedule of the Election of Loksabha and Assembly at an “appropriate time”.

A total of 57 bypolls are due, including 56 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha district.

Yet the Commission did not specify whether the decision has been made for all pending by-elections.

It was announced that the polling panel agreed to postpone eight elections, seven and one Lok Sabha seat, referring to floods and the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 7 September the six-month time limit to hold the eight polls is going to expire.

After September, the other 49 polls are due.
