1. See the fibre content
The best material for any bedsheet is 100% cotton because it’s soft and comfortable. If you wish to buy premium-quality bedsheets, you can also choose Extra-Long Staples (ELS) cotton, like Egyptian or Pima.
They will be even softer and more long-lasting. But the problem is that these sheets are often very costly. Moreover, you’ll have to take the seller’s word for it. There have been instances where impure cotton has been labeled as Egyptian.
If you wish to avoid the hassle, you can even go for a blend of cotton and polyester. The fabric might feel a little rough and synthetic but the polyester will prevent wrinkling and lessen the price.
2. Thread count isn’t all
Many people believe that thread count is everything. We are here to tell you that it most definitely isn’t. Many bedsheet manufacturers keep increasing the thread count on their bedsheets without any kind of improvement in the quality.
For the ideal softness and durability, you should buy a bedsheet that has 300-500 thread counts. You’ll also be able to find pretty good sheets that have 200 counts but they won’t be as comfortable.
Also, try not to buy sheets that have a count of over 500. It doesn’t necessarily guarantee greater comfort or luxury.
3. Know the weaves
The primary options for weaves are satin or percale. Percale is a basic weave that has the pattern of a grid. It is light, crisp, and comfortable.
Satin, on the other hand, is a satin weave that feels like silk. So the smoothness is guaranteed. Even though most buyers prefer satin weaves, you can also opt for percale. This is basically a matter of personal preference.

4. Measure before buying

Many brands, especially the ones that sell sheets online, have return policies up to a few months after you purchase. So before buying, always make sure there’s a proper return policy. If there isn’t any, talk to the company and ask them.
Also, take note of the warranty period, if any. In case you find that the sheet is defective or torn, the company is responsible for changing it and providing you with a fresh one. Make sure the warranty cards are safely kept.
