Prime Video cancelled Gen V in late April 2026, ending The Boys spinoff after two seasons and 16 episodes. Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said the characters’ stories would continue elsewhere. Three of them did, appearing in the final episodes of The Boys in May 2026.

Why Did Prime Video Cancel Gen V?

Prime Video never gave an official reason, and the only public numbers point to an audience that arrived for the premiere and then thinned out.

Gen V posted its biggest streaming week when season two launched. Nielsen figures reported by TheWrap put the series at 424 million minutes viewed during the week of 15 September 2025, after three episodes dropped on 17 September, which placed it eighth among streaming originals that week. Reporting at the time of the cancellation noted the show reached that top ten only once more over the rest of the season.

Reviews were not the problem. Season one holds 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and season two 91 percent. The cancellation came roughly six months after the season two finale, and the producers framed it as a decision about where the franchise was heading rather than a verdict on the show.

Did the Gen V Cast Return in The Boys?

Yes. Three Gen V leads appeared in the last two episodes of The Boys, which ended on 20 May 2026.

Jaz Sinclair returned as Marie Moreau and London Thor as Jordan Li in episode seven. Lizze Broadway appeared as Emma Meyer in episode eight, the series finale. The Boys began its fifth and final season on 8 April 2026 with two episodes, and Prime Video screened the finale in select theatres in 4DX on 19 May 2026, a day before it streamed.

That matters because the promise made at cancellation was specific. Kripke and Goldberg said they were “committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon”. For viewers who had followed threads such as Marie Moreau’s search for her sister across two seasons, the appearances were the closure the cancelled third season would otherwise have carried.

How Chance Perdomo’s Death Reshaped the Show

Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, died in a motorcycle crash on 30 March 2024 at the age of 27, and the role was never recast.

The producers said in May 2024 that no one could replace him and that season two storylines were being reworked rather than handed to another actor. Filming resumed that month. Andre’s death was written into the season two story instead of being explained away off screen.

The rewrite is also why the gap between seasons ran so long. Season one finished on 3 November 2023 and season two did not arrive until 17 September 2025, close to two years later, by which point the show was returning to an audience that had moved on.

What Is Vought Rising, and When Does It Arrive?

Vought Rising is a 1950s-set prequel about the origins of Vought International, and Prime Video has dated it only to 2027.

Jensen Ackles reprises Soldier Boy and Aya Cash returns as Klara Vought, the character later known as Stormfront, with both also producing. Ackles announced on Instagram that filming had wrapped, and Prime Video released a first teaser on 22 May 2026, two days after The Boys ended. No premiere date has been announced. A further project, The Boys: Mexico, has been reported as in development but has no confirmed release.

Where Gen V Stands Today

As of 17 September 2026, Gen V remains cancelled, with no third season ordered and no other streamer having picked it up.

Both seasons, 16 episodes in total, still stream on Prime Video. Nothing has been announced since the April 2026 cancellation to suggest a revival, and the most recent verified development anywhere in the franchise is the Vought Rising teaser released on 22 May 2026.
