Most of us live according to the “home-work-home” scenario, distracting from everyday problems only on weekends, although these two saving days are often loaded with chores. We constantly keep in our head a bunch of important and not very important information, we are in a hurry somewhere, we are afraid to miss a chance or not be in time for something. We try to foresee everything a few steps ahead, but we forget to find a place for ourselves in a busy schedule. Our life is gradually turning into a kind of endless run with obstacles – we strive forward, towards our goal, without looking around.
In this race, there is a great risk of dropping out of the race even before the finish line, losing strength. If you feel that the vital energy is leaving, and the picture in front of your eyes is gradually merging into a gray spot, take a look around: finally look at the beauty that surrounds you throughout the entire journey,
1. Expand your horizons
Everyone has their own personal way to relax and protect themselves from social noise: someone spends the evenings with a glass of wine and a favorite book, someone with a TV remote control in hand, someone talking with their family. There is another category of people who leave everything and go to new places for new experiences.
“People go to travel for two reasons: because they want to find something or because they want to escape from something,” reads a quote from Lucy Clarke’s book “The Sea is to Blame”. It is impossible to disagree with these words. Perhaps, each of us once wanted to abruptly break away from their homes and at least for a couple of days to leave for another city or country.
Different people have different reasons for this, but someone really does it, and someone only thinks about it. And, believe me, the first are happier.
2. Know yourself
Albert Camus said that “travel, as the greatest and most serious science, helps us to rediscover ourselves.” And indeed, far from home, from familiar people, from everything ordinary and boring, we can comprehend ourselves and our life in a new way. Very often, it is during travels that the most correct ideas, correct decisions and amazing discoveries come to our minds.
The anticipation and feeling of something new always expands the boundaries of human thinking, helping to continue to look at familiar things from a different angle. Getting on board an airplane or a train carriage, we seem to find ourselves at the zero kilometer, from where all the roads are new and unexplored, and we want to walk on them so much that inside there is a pleasant quivering feeling of anticipation of an adventure.
3. Change the environment
Adventure itself is one of the main reasons why people, like migratory birds, hundreds of thousands of people rush to new places. We control everything in everyday life so carefully, so carefully write down goals and objectives in our diaries, check emails and social networks so often that our life has become a super-structured system in which there is no room for spontaneity and dreams. On a journey, on the other hand, we can relax and let everything take its course.
Of course, there are people who, even on a trip, manage to think through everything up to a second. But, you must admit, it is so cool sometimes to get lost with friends in an unfamiliar area of Paris with dead phones and looking for a way home; wander aimlessly through the old town in Sicily and accidentally discover a picturesque place; rent a car in Deira and drive along Dubai Creek with many colorful oriental bazaars; laugh to tears, because your travel companion is running along the beach in Brazil and trying to catch a hat gone with the wind.
Following accidents, rejoicing in little things, meeting new people, and finally being yourself is the right path for a happy person.
4. Change for the better
When traveling, we not only discard all unnecessary things, but also expand our horizons. We never return from a trip the same people we were before. Once you step out of your usual comfort zone, it will inevitably begin to expand, and perhaps the whole world will soon become your comfort zone!
You probably know many people of creative professions who travel frequently. For them, this is a kind of vital necessity, because by changing the environment and discovering something previously unknown for themselves, they find inspiration and strength for new achievements. This rule applies to absolutely everyone, because fresh impressions can turn, well, or at least shake up the life of any person.
5. Recharge with emotions
Have you ever thought about the lack of experience in your life? Why? – you object. – “But what about cinema, theater, trips out of town?” Yes, all this can be attributed to impressions, but how many times have you gone to the cinema or theater? You do this quite often, so this is nothing new, no matter if you are watching this movie / play for the first time or for the tenth time. But by visiting a country in which you have never been, getting acquainted with a foreign culture and knowing its customs, you will receive the very new impressions that can change you forever. By getting to know the world, you get to know yourself.
So why do we need to travel? In order to feel free and strong in spite of everything. In order to open unprecedented horizons, learn new and interesting things, be inspired and create. In order to experience life in its entirety, to expand the usual framework and find new facets in oneself. In order to see the most beautiful sunset by the sea and understand that this is more important than many minor problems that used to be troublesome.
