Did the Las Vegas Residency Replace Touring?
For most of the nine years, yes. The residency ran from 27 December 2016 to 31 December 2025 across 110 shows, with reported box-office totals of $197.2 million from 574,000 tickets.
Its home was Dolby Live at Park MGM, formerly the Park Theater, with additional dates at MGM National Harbor in Maryland, MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston and MGM Cotai in Macau. Was There a $50 Million Gambling Debt?
MGM Resorts International says no such debt exists. In March 2024 NewsNation reported, citing an unnamed source, that Mars had run up more than $50 million in gambling debt at MGM.
MGM Resorts responded with a statement, reported on 19 March 2024, describing its partnership with Mars as longstanding and adding: “Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM.” Mars later made a joke about the reported debt from the stage.
That denial is the only on-the-record statement from either company or performer, and the original report rested on a single anonymous source. The claim still drives a large share of searches about him, which is why it belongs in any honest account of the gap years.
