iPhone Duo pre-orders opened at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday 16 October 2026 and stopped offering launch-day delivery within half an hour. All eight storage and colour combinations now show an estimated ship date of 25 January 2027. Apple has given no explanation for the shortfall.

What the Pre-Order Page Shows Now

Every iPhone Duo configuration on Apple’s United States online store carries the same estimated ship date. Buyers who completed checkout in the opening minutes kept the original 23 October delivery; everyone after them was moved to late January.

MacRumors recorded 25 January 2027 across all eight combinations by 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time, and 9to5Mac found the same date still in place at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. 9to5Mac also reported that some buyers were shown 29 January instead, a variation Apple has not addressed.

As of 17 October 2026, Apple has not published a revised delivery window, has not said how many units it allocated to launch day, and has not commented on the slip. Two practical consequences are reported by MacRumors alone: in-store pickup was switched off for pre-orders, with a note telling customers to check back on Saturday 24 October, and Christmas delivery is no longer offered through Apple’s online store.

iPhone Duo Prices by Storage Tier

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States for 256GB, and the top tier is $3,199. Apple quotes the base model at $83.29 per month over 24 months, and lists Apple Upgrade financing through Klarna from $57.99 per month.

StorageUS price
256GB$1,999
512GB$2,199
1TB$2,599
2TB$3,199

Two colours are offered, Star White and Night Sky. The iPhone Duo Case is $79 and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand is $129, both orderable from 16 October. Apple has not published prices for every launch market, so local figures depend on the regional store.

The hardware itself was settled at the 9 September announcement: a 5.4-inch outer display, a 7.6-inch inner display and the A20 Pro chip built on a 2-nanometre process. In Apple’s announcement of the iPhone Duo, chief executive John Ternus called it “the most transformational change to iPhone since the original”. Our earlier report on the iPhone Duo release date covers what the foldable gives up, including Face ID.

Which Markets Get It on 23 October

Apple is launching the iPhone Duo in two waves, and it has named almost none of the countries in either. The first wave is 23 October in the United States and more than 70 other countries and regions; the second is 28 further countries and regions on 30 October.

Apple’s announcement names only a handful of first-wave markets — the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Japan, Germany and France — and gives no full list. For the 28 second-wave markets it publishes neither the names nor a pre-order date, so buyers in those countries currently have a launch day of 30 October and no way to place an order ahead of it.

That matters more than it normally would. Because launch-day stock in the United States was exhausted in half an hour, the pre-order queue in each later market is likely to be the thing that decides who gets a phone in 2026, and Apple has not yet opened one for the second wave.

What to Do if You Missed the 5 a.m. Window

There is no way to recover the 23 October date through Apple’s online store once the estimate has moved. Four options remain, and all of them are logistics rather than guarantees:

  1. Order now and watch the estimate: Apple adjusts dates as cancellations clear and stock is reallocated, so a January estimate can improve before it ships.
  2. Check in-store pickup from 24 October: Apple’s note tells pre-order customers to check back that Saturday, according to MacRumors.
  3. Go to a store on launch day: Walk-in stock on 23 October is separate from the online pre-order pool, though Apple has not said how much of it there will be.
  4. Try carriers and other retailers: Their allocations are independent of Apple’s. Our breakdown of iPhone Duo pre-order deals explains how the advertised carrier discounts are actually paid out.

Why Early Supply Is Tight

Apple has not described its production position, so everything in this section is reporting rather than confirmation. The figure most often cited comes from Jiemian News, which quoted a source close to Foxconn saying final assembly yields for the foldable were only slightly above 60 per cent as of 17 September, with six months to a year needed to reach a mature yield.

A yield near 60 per cent does not mean that four in ten phones are faulty. It means a large share of units fail Apple’s checks on the first pass and have to be reworked, which slows the line and raises cost. Upstream, Samsung Display’s foldable OLED panels and the hinge assembly were also reported to have low yields and delivery delays, which left less time to tune final assembly.

Supply-chain sources quoted in the same coverage put Apple’s 2026 stocking target at roughly six million to eight million units. None of these numbers has been confirmed by Apple, Foxconn or Samsung Display.

The pattern is not new for Apple, but its scale is. When the iPhone 18 Pro shipping dates split in September, only the Pro Max slipped, and it slipped by weeks rather than months.

What Apple Has Not Confirmed

  • The cause of the slip: Apple has not said whether demand, supply or both drove launch-day stock out in 30 minutes.
  • Launch-day volume: No figure has been published for units allocated to 23 October or to walk-in stock.
  • The second-wave countries: Neither the 28 names nor their pre-order date has been announced.
  • Whether January holds: Apple has not said if 25 January is a worst case or an expected date.
  • Regional pricing: Only United States prices appear in the announcement.

iPhone Duo Pre-Order FAQ

When Will Today’s iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Arrive?

Apple’s United States store shows an estimated ship date of 25 January 2027 for every storage size and both colours. Orders completed in the first minutes after 5 a.m. Pacific Time on 16 October still show 23 October 2026.

Is Launch-Day iPhone Duo Stock Still Available?

Not through an online pre-order. Walk-in stock at Apple Stores on 23 October and allocations held by carriers and other retailers are separate from the online pre-order queue, but Apple has not said how large either pool is.

What Does iPhone Duo Cost?

In the United States it is $1,999 for 256GB, $2,199 for 512GB, $2,599 for 1TB and $3,199 for 2TB. The case is $79 and the Folio with Kickstand is $129.

Which Countries Get iPhone Duo From 30 October?

Apple says 28 further countries and regions receive it on 30 October but has not named them. It has also not announced when pre-orders open in those markets.

Why Did Delivery Dates Move So Quickly?

Apple has not said. Reporting before launch pointed to low assembly yields and constrained panel and hinge supply, but none of that has been confirmed by Apple or its suppliers.
