Apple seeded the iOS 27.2 release candidate to developers on 19 October 2026, build 24B115. The update adds Siri AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, profiles in the Apple TV app and anniversary alerts in Call Context. Apple has not announced an iOS 27.2 release date.
What iOS 27.2 Adds
The release candidate carries four user-facing changes and one regional change to Apple’s tracking prompt.
- Siri AI in five more languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish join English, the only language the feature shipped in with iOS 27 in September 2026.
- Apple TV app profiles: Separate viewer profiles, previously confined to tvOS, come to the iPhone and iPad app.
- Call Context anniversary alerts: Call Context flags an anniversary when you ring a contact whose date is stored in the Contacts app.
- A new Apple Music icon: MacRumors reports a new app icon in this build. Apple has not described the change in its own release notes.
- An alternative tracking prompt in the European Union: The build supports an expanded version of the App Tracking Transparency prompt for EU users.
Apple had said in September that the extra Siri AI languages would arrive in October, which is why the five-language expansion is the headline change rather than a surprise.
Every 27.2 Release Candidate Apple Posted on 19 October
Apple published release candidates for all six of its platforms on the same day, each listed on its developer releases page.
| Platform | Version | Build | Date posted |
|---|---|---|---|
| iOS | 27.2 RC | 24B115 | 19 October 2026 |
| iPadOS | 27.2 RC | 24B115 | 19 October 2026 |
| macOS Golden Gate | 27.2 RC | 26B118 | 19 October 2026 |
| watchOS | 27.2 RC | 24S116 | 19 October 2026 |
| tvOS | 27.2 RC | 24K120 | 19 October 2026 |
| visionOS | 27.2 RC | 24N118 | 19 October 2026 |
The builds and dates above come from Apple’s own developer releases listing. The release candidate arrived six days after the fourth iOS 27.2 beta, which Apple issued on 13 October 2026.
When Will iOS 27.2 Be Released?
Apple has given no public release date for iOS 27.2. As of 21 October 2026, the newest version any iPhone owner can install from Settings is iOS 27.1, and 27.2 exists only as a release candidate for registered developers and public beta testers.
A release candidate is the build Apple expects to ship unless testing turns up a blocking problem, so the gap is usually short. Two outlets have published estimates rather than Apple dates: Yahoo Tech expects Monday 26 October, reasoning that Apple typically ships about a week after an RC, while Apple Scoop points to roughly 28 October. Neither figure comes from Apple, and Apple has not commented on either. Our coverage of Apple’s recent point updates shows the company has not been announcing these dates in advance this cycle.
Which iPhones and iPads Support the New Siri AI
The five new languages only matter on hardware that can run Siri AI at all, and that is a shorter list than the one that can run iOS 27.
- iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air.
- iPad: iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad models with M1 or later.
Apple lists those requirements on its own Siri AI support page. iOS 27 itself installs on far older hardware, so an iPhone can take the 27.2 update and still show no Siri AI option. Apple also describes Siri AI as a beta feature and places new users on a waitlist before the feature downloads.
Where Siri AI Still Will Not Work
Two regions are excluded from Siri AI on iPhone and iPad regardless of language, and iOS 27.2 does not change either exclusion.
Apple’s support documentation states that “Siri AI is not available for iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS in the EU”. The same page says the feature is available on macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 for accounts registered in the EU, provided the device and Siri languages are both set to English. Apple has attributed the iPhone exclusion to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, and Craig Federighi, Apple’s software engineering chief, has said there is no timeline for iPhone and iPad in Europe. We covered that split when iOS 27 first shipped in September.
Apple’s page adds a second restriction that received almost no coverage this week: Siri AI “will not currently work if your Apple Account region is in mainland China”. A reader in Paris or Shanghai who updates to iOS 27.2 expecting French or Chinese Siri AI will not get it.
One detail to watch: Apple’s support page still reads “Siri AI is currently available in English” as of 21 October 2026, because the five-language expansion has not reached a public build yet.
Why the Redesigned Health App Is Not in iOS 27.2
Apple removed the redesigned Health app from the fourth iOS 27.2 beta on 13 October 2026, and it is absent from the release candidate. Earlier 27.2 betas had tested a visual overhaul alongside AI-driven Insights, Personal Guidance, and Longevity and Health Age metrics.
Testers who upgraded saw the old Health design return with a pop-up saying the new features would arrive in a future update. According to MacRumors, data recorded during the beta period stays on the device and remains viewable in the Settings app. Apple had already signalled the redesign would not land until late 2026, so the removal confirms a delay rather than a cancellation. Apple has not named the version that will carry it.
iOS 27.2 FAQ
When Is the iOS 27.2 Release Date?
Apple has not announced one. The release candidate went to developers on 19 October 2026; two outlets estimate the week of 26 October, but those are their projections, not Apple dates.
What Is the iOS 27.2 Build Number?
The iOS 27.2 release candidate is build 24B115, the same build number as iPadOS 27.2 RC.
Which Languages Does Siri AI Add in iOS 27.2?
French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. English was the only supported language when Siri AI launched with iOS 27.
Can iPhone Users in the EU Get Siri AI?
No. Apple’s documentation says Siri AI is not available for iOS, iPadOS or watchOS in the EU, and iOS 27.2 does not lift that. EU users on macOS 27 Golden Gate or visionOS 27 can use it in English.
Is the Redesigned Health App in iOS 27.2?
No. Apple pulled it from beta 4 on 13 October 2026 and it is not in the release candidate. Apple says the features will come in a later update but has not named a version.
