Which Edition You Can Actually Buy Where
The two editions are not distributed the same way, and that, not the price, is what decides whether you can order one.
Sony says the white edition “will be available in limited quantities globally at direct.playstation.com and at participating retailers.” The black edition is described as available “in limited quantities exclusively through direct.playstation.com where available and in other regions through select retailers.” The qualifier matters: PlayStation Direct does not operate in every country, so in markets without it the black pad depends entirely on whichever retailers Sony has signed up.

Both controllers use a colour-shifting finish and moulded palm tree detailing rather than printed artwork.
Sony describes a “shimmering, color-shifting finish,” with “custom palm tree details molded directly into the controller” and official Grand Theft Auto VI branding. The company frames the white pad as Vice City “at daybreak” and the black pad as capturing the city’s nightlife. Engadget, which handled the controllers ahead of preorders, reported the Roman numeral VI printed in grey on the touchpad, hot pink detailing on the face and shoulder buttons, an iridescent blue lower shell, and palm fronds embossed into the handles.
Neither controller changes the hardware. These are standard DualSense units, with the same haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, in a limited finish.
Why the 19 November Date Matters
As of 11 September 2026, both controllers are scheduled to arrive on 19 November 2026, the same day Grand Theft Auto VI reaches PlayStation 5.
That date is the third one Rockstar Games has set. The game was originally expected in autumn 2025, was moved to 26 May 2026, and was then pushed to 19 November 2026 in an announcement Take-Two Interactive made alongside quarterly results.
