In the early hours outside a Middleburg home, a shooting occurred, resulting in one individual being urgently transported to the hospital. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident on Zagato Court, discovering a victim with gunshot wounds to the stomach and arm in the front yard. The victim underwent surgery at Orange Park Medical Center, their condition and prognosis are currently undetermined.
Adam Sidney McWilliam, 36, residing at the location of the shooting, was apprehended and subsequently displayed violent behavior while in custody. McWilliam was taken to the hospital after banging his head into the patrol car’s partition. Following medical clearance, he was questioned at the CCSO Robbery-Homicide office. While much of his statement was redacted, investigators noted McWilliam’s failure to contact law enforcement regarding the incident.
A search warrant was executed on the property, the findings of which remain undisclosed in the report. Despite uncertainties surrounding the events leading to the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office deemed there was sufficient probable cause to charge McWilliam with attempted murder. He was promptly booked into the Clay County jail without bond. The report does not confirm whether McWilliam has obtained legal representation.
