If your phone won’t connect to wifi but other devices will, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue.

When your devices won’t connect to the wireless network, it’s frustrating. Especially when everyone else in the room can just pick up their phone and get online.

In this article, we will show you a quick and easy solution that can help you get back online in minutes.

16 Reasons My Phone Won’t Connect To Wifi But Other Devices Will And Their Solution

If you’re having trouble connecting your phone to wifi but other devices seem to be working just fine, don’t worry, you’re not alone. This problem seems to be with your phone or its connection. There are a few things you can try to get things up and running again. Let’s see what are those.

    1. Check if the Wi-Fi on your phone is turned on

This can be easily overlooked but it’s always worth checking if the Wi-Fi on your phone is turned on. To do this, go to your phone’s Settings and look for the Wi-Fi option. If it’s off, simply turn it on and try connecting to the network again.

    2. Check if the Wi-Fi network is working

If your phone can’t connect to wifi, the most obvious thing you should do is check if the network itself is working. You can test this by logging on to the network using another device, like your laptop or a second phone. If that doesn’t work, there’s likely something wrong with the network itself and you should contact your ISP.

    3. Check the range of the Wi-Fi network

If your phone is still having trouble connecting to wifi, the next thing to check is whether or not you’re actually in the range of the network.

Sometimes, even if the network is working fine, your phone might not be able to connect if it’s too far away from the router.

So make sure that the wifi signal is in the range where you’re trying to connect. If it’s not, move closer to the router or try connecting to a different wifi network.

    4. Look for anything blocking the signal

If you’re close to the router but your phone still can’t connect to wifi, there might be something blocking the signal. This is especially common in homes with thick walls or a lot of electronic devices. To rule this out, try moving closer to the router or changing its location.

    5. Restart your phone and try connecting again

After testing all of the above if the problem persists, the next thing to do is restart your device. This will often fix any minor connection issues and is worth doing before moving on to more drastic measures.

    6. Forget the Wi-Fi network and try connecting again

If restarting your phone didn’t help, the next step is to forget the Wi-Fi network. This will delete any saved connection information and might fix any issues with corrupted data. To do this, go to your phone’s Settings and look for the Wi-Fi option. Tap on the network you want to forget and confirm your choice. Connect again to the same WiFi and see if it works.

    7. Update your phone’s software

There may be an issue with outdated firmware that does not support WiFi signals. This is especially critical if you’re using an older phone or one that hasn’t been updated in a while.

To check for updates, navigate to your phone’s Settings and look for the System option. Select it and then select Software Updates. If there’s an update available, follow the prompts to install it. Connect it to the WiFi again after a few minutes.

    8. Reset your phone’s network settings

If the above troubleshooting tips don’t work, try resetting your phone’s network settings. This will delete all saved networks and can often fix any lingering connection issues.

To proceed with it, go to your phone’s Settings and look for the System option. Tap on it and then select Reset Network Settings. Confirm your choice and wait for your phone to restart.

    9. Check if the router is working properly

If your phone is still having trouble connecting to wifi, the next thing you should check is whether or not the router is working properly.

To do this, try connecting to the network using another device, like your laptop or a second phone. If that doesn’t work, there’s likely something wrong with the network itself and you should try another one.

    11. Check if the signal strength is good enough

When you’re able to connect to the network but your phone keeps losing the connection, it could be because of a weak signal. To fix this, try moving closer to the router or changing its location. You can also try connecting to a different wifi network if you’re in range of one.

    12. Change the Wi-Fi band on your router

If you’re still having trouble connecting your phone to the internet, other devices may be causing interference.

To solve this, go to your router’s settings and try searching for the Wi-Fi option. Choose the 2.4GHz band and attempt reconnecting again if that doesn’t work. Try using the 5GHz band instead if that doesn’t work.

    14. Try using a different Wi-Fi channel

Sometimes the problem could be due to overcrowding of the wifi channel that you’re using. In this case, try using a different wifi channel.

Step 1: Go to your router’s settings and look for the “Wireless” or “Wi-Fi” option.

Step 2: Once you find it, look for the channel option and change it to a different number.

    15. Check if MAC filtering is enabled on your router

Another thing that could be causing the problem is MAC filtering. This is a security feature that allows you to specify which devices can connect to your network. The router may be blocking your request because the SSID (service set identifier) is unsecured. To resolve this:

Step 1: Go to your router’s settings and look for the option “Wireless Security.”

Step 2: Once you find it, look for the “MAC filtering” option and disable it.

Step 3: You are all set!

    16. Factory reset your phone

The last thing you can try if your phone is still unable to connect to WiFi is a factory reset. This will delete all data from your phone and should only be used as a last resort. For this, you just need to follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to your phone’s Settings and look for the System option.

Step 2: Tap on it and then select Reset Options.

Step 3: Select Factory Reset and confirm your choice. Keep in mind that this will delete all data from your phone, so make sure to back up anything of significance first.

There are some things you can try if your phone won’t connect to the Internet. often, the issue is with the network itself or your phone’s settings. However, if you’ve tried everything and still can’t connect, you may need to factory reset your device.

    Final Thoughts

There can be many reasons why a phone cannot connect to wifi, but other devices can do so. In most cases, the problem is with the network or your phone’s settings. However, if you’ve tried everything and still can’t get online, you may need to factory reset your device.

We hope this article was helpful and that you were able to find a solution to your problem.
