Xiaomi will launch two RedmiBook laptops that replace the Ryzen 4000 APUs in the same versions that were released earlier this year, powered by the Intel 10th generation.
The new version offers the Core i5-1035G1 and i7-1065G7 choice for RedmiBook 16. The i7 runs with a higher speed (1,3-3,9 GHz vs 1.0-3,6 GHz) but also has an additional L3 (8 MB vs. 6 MB), all of which are 15 W chips with 4 core threads and 8 threads. There are also double GPU computing units available, but that doesn’t matter because of a 2 GB GDDR5 Nvidia MX350 GPU.
No matter the CPU choice, a single fan with two heat pipes cools the laptop. The RAM is also now the DDR4-3200, faster than Ryzen (DDR4-2666).
Please notice that it costs more for the Intel powered version. The i5 has CNY 5000 ($710), while the i7 has CNY 5700 ($810). In both cases, you get 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. For comparison, the Ryzen 4500U laptop is CNY 3,600, the 4700U is CNY 4,300.
The RedmiBook 16 does, however (3.26 mm, giving it 90% body-to-body ratio) have a screen with small bezels 16.1. This is a 1080p panel with full coverage of 100% sRGB, DC dim, and luminosity of 300 nits. The complete keyboard has a 1.5 mm keystroke, with the power button integrated with a fingerprint reader.
The laptop weighs 1.8 kg and has a battery of 46 WHr, which is sufficient enough to be run for 12 hours (Xiaomi states). The charge is fast and the supplied 65 W USB-C charger takes only 30 minutes. Extra ports include a second USB-C, a USB-A 3.0, a USB-A 2.0 port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Wi-Fi 6 features 2×2 MIMO.
RedmiBook 14 II
The 14 “laptop, RedmiBook 14 II, has been upgraded. It’s a 1080p panel with 100% sRGB coverage and a typical brightness of 300 nits. The laptop is smaller and therefore lighter – only 1.3 kg weight.
This also means a smaller battery, 40 WHr, but according to officials, you should get more than 10 hours. This comes with a 0–50% distance in 28 minutes from 65 W USB-C loader.
RAM starts with 8 GB DDR4-3200 but there is also a 16 GB option. RedmiBook 14 II has the same choices for CPU – core i5-1035G1 and I 7-1065G7 both paired with Nvidia MX350 GPUs. The capacity of the SSD is 512 GB.
The base model is CNY 4,700 ($670) while the complete edition is CNY 5,700 ($810) (i7, 16 GB RAM). The CNY 3,800 version of the Ryzen 5 4500U starts with the first selling of CNY 3,500.
The RedmiBook 16 and RedmiBook 14 II are to be launched in China on July 15, 2020, with Intel CPUs.
