Googlebook laptops went on sale on 4 October 2026 in the United States and on 5 October in six more countries. Five models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo start at $899. Two of them, the XPS Googlebook and the Lenovo Googlebook 15, now list $200 below Google’s pre-order price.

What the Googlebook Launch Price List Looks Like Now

The Googlebook launch price list runs from $899 to $1,299 in the United States, and two of the five entries have moved since pre-orders opened. Google’s own Googlebook store shows the following starting prices, checked on 6 October 2026.

ModelChipDisplayStarting price nowPrice at pre-order
Acer Googlebook 14Intel Core Ultra 514-inch 2.8K OLED$899$899
XPS GooglebookSnapdragon X Elite13.4-inch 2.5K$999$1,199
Lenovo Googlebook 15Intel Core Ultra15.3-inch 2.8K OLED$1,099$1,299
ASUS Googlebook 14Intel Core Ultra14-inch 3K OLED$1,299$1,299
HP Googlebook 14Snapdragon X Elite14-inch 2.8K OLED$1,299$1,299

The $899 Acer figure is a limited-time price, and Google has not said when it ends. Our earlier Googlebook price list recorded the pre-order figures Google published on 21 September 2026.

Why Two Models Cost $200 Less Than Google Quoted

The two price changes came from the manufacturers, not from a Google promotion. Gizmodo reported on 28 September 2026 that Dell told it the XPS Googlebook was in fact $999 at Best Buy, and that Lenovo then said its Googlebook 15 would cost $1,099 through the same retailer, in both cases below the figure on Google’s comparison page.

Google’s store has since caught up with both. The practical effect for a buyer is that the cheapest Snapdragon-based Googlebook is now $100 more than the cheapest Intel one, rather than $300 more.

Where Googlebook Is on Sale, and Where It Is Not

Googlebook is on sale in seven countries and nowhere else. Google’s announcement of 21 September 2026 named the United States for 4 October, then Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia for 5 October.

  • United States: on sale 4 October 2026, from $899.
  • United Kingdom: on sale 5 October 2026, from £999 for the Acer Googlebook 14, sold through Currys, EE and, in Ireland, Harvey Norman.
  • Canada: on sale 5 October 2026, from C$1,299 for the Acer Googlebook 14, with a second configuration at C$1,699.
  • Ireland, France, Germany, Australia: on sale 5 October 2026; Google did not publish local prices with the launch announcement.

India, the Netherlands and Italy are not in the launch wave. The Indian technology site Digit noted on 22 September 2026 that there was no official India availability or price for Googlebook, and that remains the case.

What Is Included With a Googlebook Purchase

Every Googlebook comes with 12 months of Google AI Pro at no extra cost, and the offer is tied to a purchase date. Google’s store states that the trial is available to eligible users who buy and activate an eligible Googlebook on or after 1 October 2026.

  • Google AI Pro, 12 months: 5TB of cloud storage and higher usage limits in Gemini. It renews at £18.99 a month in the United Kingdom and C$26.99 a month in Canada.
  • Redemption deadline: 31 March 2027, according to the Canadian store listing.
  • Other trials: three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop in the United States. The UK listing adds BandLab, Luminar, CapCut Pro and GeForce NOW, and puts the bundle at “up to £275 value”.

Intel or Snapdragon, and Why It Matters for Apps

Three Googlebooks use Intel x86 chips and two use Qualcomm Arm chips, and the split has a software consequence. The Acer, ASUS and Lenovo models run Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, code-named Panther Lake; the XPS Googlebook and the HP Googlebook 14 run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite.

Googlebook OS is built on the Android technology stack and paired with desktop foundations from ChromeOS, so it runs Android apps. HotHardware reported on launch day that some Android apps may not perform as expected on the Intel x86 models. Google has not published a list of the affected apps.

Google told PCMag that buyers who want Linux can use the built-in Terminal app, which runs a full Linux environment in a virtual machine. That is a single-outlet account; Google has not documented the arrangement in its own launch material.

Googlebook Allows Bootloader Unlocking

Google has confirmed that Googlebook bootloaders can be unlocked, which it did not do for Chromebooks in the same way. A Google support page documents the process for developers and advanced users, and Techweez reported it on 5 October 2026.

  1. Open Settings, find Build number and tap it seven times to reveal Developer options.
  2. Turn on OEM unlocking in Developer options.
  3. Restart into recovery using the Esc and F2 keys with the power button.
  4. Choose Advanced options, then unlock bootloader, and follow the prompts.

The warnings are blunt. Google’s support page states that “unlocking your device’s bootloader erases all data from your device and disables device security”, and that “modifications aren’t supported by Google and can cause hardware, software, or security issues and may void warranty”. Google has also said it has not tested other operating systems on Googlebooks and cannot guarantee how they would behave.

What Google Has Still Not Said

Three questions from the pre-order period are still open as of 6 October 2026. Google has not named which existing Chromebooks can move to Googlebook OS, how that upgrade would work, or when it would reach them. It has not said when the Acer model’s limited-time $899 price ends. And it has not announced a second wave of countries or local pricing for the four launch markets outside the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Our earlier report on the Googlebook release date covered the same gap at pre-order stage.
