Air India Express Flight Crashed Due to Heavy Rain, at least 16 Dead

Air India Express Flight (IX 1344), crashed on the runaway of  Karipur Airport and broken down into two half. The flight was travelling from Dubai to Kozhikode with 191 Passengers including Pilot and Cabin Crew. 

According to initial reports, two people, including a pilot, lost their lives. But later on, it has been found that at least 16 was found dead, by Indian TV News. One reason behind the tragedy is believed to be heavy rain in Kerala. 

Ambulances and fire fighters immediately rushed to the location for rescue. The incident occurred at 7.10 pm.  The aircraft pilot Deepak Vasant Sathe has died in the incident and the condition of the co-pilot is reported to be critical, as the aircraft’s cockpit and front door were severely damaged.

“No fire was reported at the time of landing. There are 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and 5 cabin crew onboard the aircraft. As per initial reports, rescue operations are on and passengers are being taken to hospital,” as stated by Rajeev Jain, Additional DG Media, Civil Aviation Ministry.
